COMPARISON OF EFFICACY OF TAMSULOSIN, ALFUZOSIN, AND SILODOSIN IN THE MANAGEMENT OF BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA

Objectives: This study was done to determine the efficacy of alpha-1 adrenoceptor blockers such as tamsulosin, alfuzosin, and silodosin in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) over 6 months by assessing change international prostate symptom score (IPSS), quality life scale for (Bother score), improvement peak urine flow rate (Qmax) from baseline. We also tried identify any adverse drug reactions (ADRs) caused these drugs. Methods: A prospective observational conducted 291 LUTS secondary BPH attending urology outpatient department a tertiary care center 1 year. Ninety-seven each group received or once daily. IPSS, Qmax, Bother were assessed at 1st, 3rd, 6th month treatment period. ADR noted recorded reporting form. Results: mean bother score, Qmax showed significant baseline follow-up visit 1, 3, all three groups, but maximum alfuzosin found be statistically (p<0.001). Two developed reaction during study; asthenia tamsulosin hypotension Silodosin group. Conclusion: Patients on values compared silodosin. Alfuzosin would better choice BPH.
